Back pain can make life hard, frustrating and just miserable with basic things such as leaning over the sink to brush your teeth, getting in and out of a chair painful. If any of these are familiar then you need a few tips and some advice to help you manage your back and stop the pain.

Backpain treatment and clinics

First the safety; if your pain is persistent, long standing with no obvious cause see you osteopath, physio or chiropractor, working with backs is what they do.

Try not to listen to the pub doctor or the well meaning advice from friends and family who have backpain in the past, it may be the same but it may not.

So a couple of tips for you with back pain?

Get a massage.

Getting a back massage will ease the sore tense muscles in your back, and help to relieve the stress of back pain. Having a 30 minute massage either by a professional or a family member can produce long lasting relief from sore back muscles.

Carry bags correctly

How many times have you seen a someone carrying a heavy bag on one shoulder? How many times have you seen a student carrying his or her backpack on one shoulder? You should always make heavy bags distributed more proportionately , and also make sure to limit the amount of time you have to carry them on a consistent basis.

High Heels

Try not wear a shoe with a heel over one inch. If heels higher than this are worn, the wearer’s centre of gravity shifts. This causes back strain and pain. It can become chronic pain if high heels are worn often. If they must be worn, limiting the amount of time spent in them will help decrease the chance of pain and injury, follow up with some stretching on the legs and spine to reduce the impact.

Lifestyle

Stress and fast-paced living can easily lead to both acute and chronic back pain. You need to be aware of the effects of stress and the fast pace including the different surroundings and practices, especially if you already have been suffering from back pain. While life moves fast and mental stress is hardly unavoidable, it is important to pay attention to ways to improve your way of life, take time out to relax and recover.

Lifting

In order to prevent back strains, do not lift anything too heavy. Many times, chronic back pain is caused by someone picking up objects that are too heavy which strains their back. You can avoid this pain by only lifting objects that you know your body, and more specifically, your back, can handle.

In order to help your back, you must remove yourself from the source of pain, take the pressure of the body. Once removed find yourself a place to rest. Whether it be a comfortable chair, recliner or even a place to lay down. Find a position that offers you the most support to relieve your back tension.

Nutrition

Chronic tense muscle pain, such as back pain, can be caused by a poor diet with vitamin and mineral deficiencies, a shortage of essential fatty acids and dehydration. To get your fair share of good food it important to eat a varied diet, if in doubt see a nutritional therapist or dietitian, be sure to get outdoors into the sunlight your body needs daylight, this does not mean sunbathing in the scorching sun.

Ice

Use ice! If you have back pain from an actual injury ? an ice pack can help to relieve the pain, ice is a natural pain reliever for many ailments, and the cold will help to reduce any swelling associated with any injuries you may be suffering!

Heat

Taking a hot bath, having a sauna, hot compress can all help achey muscles to relaxe andget things moving a little easier.

Nobody enjoys back pain. Remember to try these the next time you are hurting, they may help keep you pain free.
