Backpain your No1 Priority

What have I got to do to stop backpain coming back?

Many patients want to know the ins and outs of really sorting out there health and particularly what they needed to do to sort out there back issues. With conversations often aimed at finding the number one thing to concentrate on.

Some of the points covered are;

Sleep- let’s face it, how many of us really get a good 8 hours sleep?

Bodywork- having osteopathy, massage and acupuncture are all proven to help but even these are not your number one thing

Exercise including strength, core, stamina and flexibility are all needed to make your body fit for purpose and handle what you want to do with it. Often, by keeping fit we enable the body to have the ability to complete tasks however, they may not necessarily be good for our bodies.

Weight: We all have an optimum weight regardless of what we do; it’s the weight we are happy with that allows for efficient movement and function. This is still not the number one thing!

Posture: the way we use our body in everything we do has a big influence on how it develops positively and negatively.

Work: not all jobs are equal on your body, reduce the pressure and create the right environment.

Painkillers and Anti-inflammatories: these should only be part of a management plan or used to help you break the pain cycle so you can get on with the rehabilitation.

Supplements: if your diet and nutrition is questionable or not quite as good as it should be natural supplements can really help optimise your intake.

After discussing all these and then some we eventually got to the number one priority, and it’s something I read about recently from an unlikely source “Cristiano Ronaldo” yes you heard right a famous footballer and a interesting article about him, the number one priority is “Mind Set”

You see it’s not what you do it’s the way that you do it, implementing all of the above and truly integrating the right actions and habits to really gain real benefits, but ultimately you need the right mindset to make it work.
